Statement of Faith

The Statement of Faith of Evangelism Outreach Ministries is the Word of God, as represented from the whole of Scripture, from Genesis through Revelation. We are Bible-believing Christians who walk in the light of the Lord and embrace His glorious Word. And it is our desire to be fully transparent and to clearly represent the Lord God in such a way that pleases Him. We are a people that embraces much of Reformed Theology and the doctrines of grace in keeping with the Everlasting Covenant that was established by the Godhead from before the foundation of the world and the beginning of time itself. With that said, we reject Dominionism, Christian Reconstructionism, Theonomy, the New Apostolic Reformation (Charismania), Contemplative Spirituality, the Emergent Church, and any other movement or organization or doctrine that denies the faith once delivered unto the Saints and who preaches, teaches, or represents another Jesus, another spirit, and another Gospel.

The Holy Scriptures

Holy Scripture (Bible) is the Word of God, and is the sole authoritative, infallible, inerrant, immutable, sufficient rule and standard for saving knowledge, faith, obedience, and life. As such, we affirm Sola and Tota Scriptura and believe that every Word of God is absolute truth.

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:15–17).

The Bible is comprised of the Old and New Testaments. Each of the sixty-six books of the Bible, from Genesis through Revelation, were given under inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21).

The Trinity

The Trinity is the Godhead three in one, within the one being of God (theos), eternal and immutable, Who exists in three distinct, co-equal, co-eternal Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each Person is fully and completely God and is described in Scripture as possessing all the divine attributes and essence of God.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ (Ephesians 1:3-12).

The Trinity is made up of one “What” (Being/Deity/God) and three “Who’s” (Persons/Father-Son-Holy Spirit). The biblical doctrine of the Trinity is held up by 3 major pillar doctrines: 1. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit are identified as fully deity–that is, the Bible teaches the deity of Christ and the deity of the Holy Spirit. A denial of any one of these doctrines will lead one into gross error and heresy.

The Godhead is actively involved in the salvation of the Elect: Salvation from the pleasure or love of sin (Regeneration), salvation from the penalty of sin (Justification), salvation from the power of sin (Sanctification), and salvation from the presence of sin (Glorification). Additional information regarding “A Fourfold Salvation,” written by Arthur W. Pink, is available online at the Chapel Library.

All throughout Scripture, the Godhead is revealed, beginning right in Genesis 1 and the account of Creation.

In the beginning God (‘elohiym) created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1).

And God (Theos in New Testament) said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth (Genesis 1:26).

“Elohim’s orderly cosmos reveals the order in Himself (Ligonier).” “The noun Elohim is plural but it is always used with a singular verb when it speaks of the true God. This indicates a unity and diversity within the nature of God. This unity and diversity is revealed in Scripture as the doctrine of the Trinity (Stewart, BLB).”

Genesis 24, which contains what is commonly referred to as the “Camel Train,” provides an account of Abraham’s mission in sending out his eldest servant to find a wife for his son Isaac. In that story, we see the work of the Father who draws men to salvation and espousal to Christ, as led by the Holy Spirit of God.

And at the baptism of the Lord Jesus, we see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit together as One.

And Jesus (Son), when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit (Holy Spirit) of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son (Father), in whom I am well pleased (Matthew 3:16,17).

Creation

God created the universe and all that is contained within it within the span of 6 literal days. He did not create using pre-existing materials, but created all things ex nihilo (out of nothing) by the creating and sustaining power of the Word of God. This belief is based upon the account of Creation provided in Genesis chapters 1 & 2, as well as the testimony of the whole of Scripture.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Hebrews 1:10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands.

From the history contained within the Word of God, we know that the universe is less than 10,000 years old. (For more information on biblical creationism, please check out the ministry Answers in Genesis)

Man

We believe that on the sixth day God created man in His own image and likeness with the express purpose that he would worship God in spirit and in truth. The first man, Adam, was created from the dust of the earth. And because it is not good that man should be alone, He created, Eve, from one of, Adam’s, ribs and brought her to, Adam, to be his wife and lifelong companion. And with that union, God created the Institution of Marriage.

Since God alone created man, both male and female, and has brought them together in the Covenant of Marriage, He alone is the One who defines marriage and the one flesh, lifelong relationship between husband and wife. And with that, no man, government, or institution has the right to redefine what has been established and defined and instituted by Almighty God Himself.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth (Genesis 1:28).

And in that union between husband and wife, children are produced. For one plants (husband, male), and another waters (wife, female), but God gives the increase (children).

Psalms 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Genesis 2:15-17 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden and was given certain instruction from the Lord God. In the Garden of Eden is where he was tested to prove his faithfulness to the word of the Lord God. Through the subtilty and craftiness of Satan (serpent), Eve disobeyed the Word of the Lord God.

Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Adam was influenced by, Eve, and ate of the forbidden fruit. and thereby committed cosmic treason against the Lord God. And with that, there were certain consequences for their rebellion. Mankind for the first time stood condemned before the God of all Creation and would no longer enjoy the splendor and majesty of the presence of the Lord God.

Genesis 3:14, 15 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Immediately upon sinning against the Lord God, Adam and Eve knew that they were naked and needed to be clothed. They were ashamed and feared the Lord God. In there shame they sought to cover themselves with fig leaves.

In fact, they were driven out of the Garden of Eden and forbidden from accessing the tree of life.

Now all of mankind are conceived and born with a sin nature inherited by Adam through ordinary generation, the only exception is Jesus Christ since He was conceived by the Virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit. All men are thus sinners by nature, by choice, and by divine declaration. Mankind is unable to redeem himself, therefore man is hopelessly lost. Man’s salvation is thereby wholly of God’s grace through the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Gospel

The Gospel is Good News for the man who is dead in trespasses and sins and in need of salvation. This is the man who is poor in spirit, who mourns over sin, who is meek, who hungers and thirsts for righteousness, who is merciful, and who is pure in heart (Matthew 5, Beatitudes). Of first importance, the Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-3). The Satisfaction and atoning sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ is the work of propitiation and atonement that begins with the Everlasting Covenant and ends with “It is finished” and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. And this involves the Incarnation and the sinless life of the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world, who humbled himself and bore the sin and iniquity of the Elect on the cross of Calvary where He shed His precious blood for the expiation and forgiveness of our sins.

Salvation, from start to finish, is the work of the Triune God to save and redeem sinful men and women to Himself, not by good works, merit nor virtue, but by His grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Salvation begins with the doctrine of sovereign, unconditional election, which is an act of God done before the foundation of the world, in which God the Father graciously chose those whom He would save out of the world to Himself (Romans 8:28-30; Ephesians 1:4-11; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 2:10; 1 Peter 1:1-2).

All who the Father draws to the Son will come to faith in Him and the Son will raise them up on the Last Day (John 6:37-40, 44; Acts 13:48). The drawing and regenerating of men and women is accomplished by the will and work of the Holy Spirit (John 3:3-8; Titus 3:5). This new life of faith is wrought into the elect at God’s appointed time by His Spirit. Though a person is justified the moment they have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, their life will be marked by a growing manifestation of repentance, good works and holiness until they are brought to glory, either by death or the Lord’s Return (Romans 5-8).
